I'm writing a family history of the ancestry of Jethro Benson Thompson and Mary Gladys Jordan Sells, who lived and died in North Carolina. In writing about the children of Mary's great-grandfather Miles Jordan (1822-1892), I came across a record in the "U.S. Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1935" collection on Ancestry concerning Miles' son Raleigh L. Jordan. Evidently Raleigh and his wife Malinda made a request to join the Society of Friends in Guilford County, NC in 1902. When I clicked on the image, I read about the committee appointed to visit them:
i was all set to write a sentence stating that Raleigh and Malinda Jordan joined the Society of Friends in Centre, Guilford County.
But then I wondered - did they?

So, evidently, this planned visitation fell through (I wonder why?), and Raleigh and Malinda Jordan didn't join the Society of Friends. I read several more pages of minutes and didn't see them mentioned again. And I found it interesting that Ancestry's indexing listed the first mention of the couple on p.90, but not the second mention on p.91.
Lesson learned - be curious. Turn the page!
